ALMA MIĆIĆ & DOUG WAMBLE
After her initial success with a combo and Big Band RTS on the Belgrade scene in the 1990s, vocalist Alma Mićić went on to complete her jazz studies at Berklee College of Music in Boston and continued her career in New York. On her current and third studio album Tonight, she collaborated with the American blues/country/jazz guitarist Doug Wamble, a brilliant instrumentalist who has worked with numerous famous jazz artists (Wynton Marsalis, Cassandra Wilson, Madeleine Peyroux, Steven Bernstein, Norah Jones…), while simultaneously building his solo career. He first signed to Marsalis Music, a record label founded by saxophonist Branford Marsalis, and later released his own albums independently. Mićić’s and Wamble’s joint project is a collection of original pieces, covers of popular rock songs, as well as something typical of Alma—inspiration from the home folklore tradition.
