ANA SOFRENOVIĆ: „VOICES“
In addition to having a successful acting career in film and theatre and after meeting the iconic American avant-garde composer and vocalist Meredith Monk, Ana Sofrenović begun dedicating seven years to researching the human voice and its use in performances that surpass the borders of traditional vocal techniques. Her ambitious program titled Voices is imagined as an on-stage journey through various musical worlds. She will be accompanied by musicians from Serbia and abroad with whom she collaborated recently. Through an improvised jazz approach, Ana and her friends will play with different genres and vocal expressions. Among the various chosen inspirations are the poems of Vasko Popa, Gypsy music, jazz standards from the 1950s and lullabies from Iceland and the Balkans. The improvisation will be through expression, genre and images.
