SHAI MAESTRO TRIO
Since its rebirth in 2005, the Belgrade Jazz Festival has been focusing on young musicians, successfully predicting what would be recognised on the international jazz scene. This time we will promote the 26-year-old Shai Maestro, an Israeli jazz and classical music pianist. Maestro has already performed at the festival six years ago, giving an unforgettable concert with Avishai Cohen’s trio, his first mentor, in the hall of the Ilija M. Kolarac Foundation. After five years in the trio, four recorded albums and several world tours, Maestro began a solo career two years ago and recorded his first album as a leader, where he presented an original mix of contemporary jazz and Israeli music influences, following the concept of Cohen’s trio. Maestro’s ensemble stylishly combines lyrical colours and exotic polyrhythm. Their second album The Road To Ithaca was released this October.
