Saxophonist and composer Yuri Honing is one of the leading Dutch jazz artists of the mid-generation. He has won two of the most prestigious awards of the Dutch music community—the Edison Award (the Dutch equivalent to the US Grammy Award) for Best Jazz Album (2001) and Boy Edgar (2012), given to one artist every year for special merits in his/her creative work. Honing had his first major success with the album Star Tracks (1996), which featured jazz covers of pop and rock songs (by ABBA, The Police, Green Day, Cyndi Lauper, Björk…) – original treatment of such repertoire stays among his specialties up to present time. Another renowned Dutch jazz musician playing in this acoustic quartet that was founded in 2009, is pianist Wolfert Brederode. He is signed to the ECM label, and the Belgrade audience already met him with his own quartet in the Amerikana venue at the 25th Belgrade Jazz Festival held in 2009.
